General Pastor Visits the UN Headquarters and Delivers a Donation to Aid Haiti

In Haiti the land of tragedy, where 3 million people among the population of 10 million were injured and 90 percent of buildings had collapsed on account of a deadly earthquake that occurred in January, the seed of hope was sown through the love of God and the devotion of the members of the Church of God.

At 11 a.m. (local time) on June 29, General Pastor Kim Joo-cheol and company visited the UN Headquarters in New York and delivered a donation to aid Haiti earthquake victims. General Pastor Kim Joo-cheol, who was visiting the Churches of God in the Eastern part of the US, personally delivered the donation of $100,000 to the Central Emergency Relief Fund (CERF) and also delivered the Church members’ wish to them, saying, “The only thing that can heal the dry and dreary world is the love of a mother who sacrifices herself unconditionally. As we believe in God the Mother, we want to help our global neighbors with the heart of Mother, the greatest love of all.”

The CERF officials, who greeted General Pastor and company and watched the Church introduction video, expressed their sincere gratitude to the Church and said, “We were very moved by the good will of all the members of the Church and their working together to make this world a better place.”

The next day, on June 30, Amir Dossal, the Executive Director of the United Nations Office for Partnerships (UNOP), invited General Pastor Kim Joo-cheol and company to the UN Headquarters again and shared conversation about future cooperation.

Through the report on the UN website, the UN disclosed that the Church of God is one of the fastest growing churches in the world with over 1,000 branch churches in 150 different countries, and that the donation by the Church is the largest donation made by a faith-based organization in CERF history. The donation was raised through “The Messiah Orchestra Concert” held in Busan, Korea, in February. The UN showed their interest in the fact that many Koreans put their minds into helping the Haiti earthquake victims.

General Pastor Kim Joo-cheol gave thanks to God for allowing him to help the global neighbors through the UN and revealing the glory of God Elohim, and said, “We hope that we can help the whole world with Mother’s water of life and love like the Good Samaritan.”
